Marcus Aurelius silver Didrachm in sterling silver pendant
Prior to mounting, this coin was inspected by an expert numismatic specializing in ancient coinage and comes with a certificate of authenticity guaranteeing its genuine and as described. The coin is a silver Didrachm from the Roman imperial province of Cappadocia. Roman provinces were Greek in culture and the coinage reflected that. Instead of using denominations like the common silver denarius with Latin writing, they used the older Greek denomination of Drachm with Greek writing. In this case, the coin is a much larger Didrachm, which had the value of two Drachms/denari and are much more rare. The coin features the portrait of the great Roman Emperor and philosopher, Marcus Aurelius. On the reverse, the sacred Cappadocian mountain of Mt Argaeus is featured. The pendant was 100% hand made in the USA by an expert jewler and is comprised of sterling silver. The chain pictured is not included
