Prior to mounting, this piece was examined by an expert numismatist specializing in ancient coinage and comes with a certificate of authenticity guaranteeing it is genuine and as described here within. The coin is an Ancient Greek Tetradrachm of exceptional quality, minted in the Greek colony of Attica, city of Athens between 454-404BC. It has the “Attica standard” of weight at 17.12g and measures 20mm (without mounting). The coin features the beautiful portrait of Athena, the goddess of wisdom and strategy and the patron goddess of Athens. On the reverse, an owl is depicted. An animal closely associated with Athena and the city of Athens, symbolizing wisdom. The mounting was 100% hand made in America by an expert jeweler and is comprised of sterling silver. The coin is held by tension, undamaged, and can be removed by an expert at any point. The silver chain pictured is not included
